Library Fall Fundraiser Coming Nov. 3rd
Mark Sun., Nov. 3rd, on your calendar as the Cunningham Public Library is prepared to celebrate the season with its annual fall fundraiser. For the past several years, Rogene Jarmer has graciously provided a sampler basket of fall creature comforts for raffle. That popular item will return, as well as a meal featuring Wayne and Rogene’s homemade sausage and pulled pork with yummy sides.
In addition to the meal, there will be a trip back in time to Christmas Eve, 1946, as “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” will be presented. The play is based on the story “The Greatest Gift” by Philip Van Doren Stern, and adapted by Joe Landry. Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com), the play follows the beloved movie fairly closely as local actors play numerous roles to bring the story to life as a radio play from WBFR in New York City. This shortened version is appropriate for all ages and should last less than an hour.
As a nod to the Christmas setting of the play, Jana Theis is putting together a Christmas-themed basket for raffle. Other raffle items will be added throughout the month.
Jane Meyers has created a beautiful quilted Christmas tree wall hanging for silent bid. It is on display at the library where you may leave your sealed bid..
The meal will be served from 11:30 to 1:00 at the Cunningham Community Center. The play will follow as soon as the center can be transformed from a place to share a meal to a radio station. Cost of the meal and the play are by free-will offering. Raffle tickets are $1 a piece or 6/$5. The community never fails to be generous and the library board is excited to bring this fun day to Cunningham!
